On Thursday, 10 girls from Year 5 and 6 took part in a Girls' Football Festival at the 'Amex Elite Performance Centre' in Lancing. This was an exciting opportunity for the girls to play matches against other schools from near and far in the place where Brighton and Hove Albion's Men's and Women's squad actually train! We were even able to meet BHA's women's goalkeeper and one of their defenders! Our girls played fantastically in every match, with some brilliant goals scored b
On Tuesday 13th June, Year 6 visited the University of Sussex to mark the end of the 'Explorer's Programme' - a project aimed at raising aspirations in Primary School children - which they have been participating in since Year 5. The session began in one of the University's largest lecture theatres - it is so large it can seat almost 500 students at any one time! The children took part in an interactive quiz where they learnt that you can complete a degree in almost anything
Sports Days took place last week (Nursery, Reception, KS1, LKS2, UKS2) and all the children should be proud of their participation and team work. The children competed in their House Teams and there were many activities on offer. The children certainly seemed to enjoy cooling off with the sponge relay! A huge thank you to parents for supporting this event. Also a a well done to Mr. Field for organising this event and staff for their contributions. Thank you.
Tuesday was the launch of our new 'Try it Tuesday' initiative where we are encouraging pupils to try new healthy foods / snacks at lunchtime. Thank you so much to Tesco at Langney Shopping Centre for providing blueberries for everyone to try. We hope to have different fruit or vegetables available each Tuesday lunchtime.
12 children from Year 6 took part in a sports festival at Causeway Secondary School, where they had a chance to try out skills for 6 different sports including rugby, netball and stoolball. The children had a fantastic time and were awarded a certificate for best sprint team, and Harley was awarded a very special "star of the festival" award for fantastic participation, enthusiasm and effort. Well done Team Langney!
On Wed afternoon the Boys Football team played Heron Park away in the Collings Cup Semi Final and recorded a 1-0 victory. The all important goal was scored by Tyler in the first half but if it was not for some heroic goalkeeping later in the 2nd half by the outstanding Spencer the scoreline might of been a bit different. Langney play Ocklynge in the Final (date tbc).
On Wednesday morning, KS2 took part in a disability awareness workshop. Activities included using a wheelchair, learning sign language (makaton), guessing objects while blind and creating sentences for people with learning disabilities. At the start of the day, the school participated in a special assembly with guest John McCorkell. He shared inspirational quotes from paralympians. He also told us what it's like to be disabled and how people wanted to be treated the same.
Wow, what a busy Vegetarian Week! Mrs. Harman and Mrs. Storer have cooked with over 500 pupils as part of National Vegetarian Week. Recipes included nachos and salsa sauce, tasty pizza muffins, and noodle and sweetcorn soup, as well as 2 bushtucker trials for our year 5's fabulous finishes. We were delighted that so many children enjoyed the recipes, especially the soup which was a huge success. Many thought that the soup was similar to Pot Noodles - ours is the healthy ve
