The staff at Langney on Friday all wore some funky moustaches in aid of Bowel Cancer. This was also to support our very own Mr Field, who has been growing a beard in the month of December! The glittery ones were very fetching and could be here to stay!!
Ten of our lovely Reception children had the opportunity to visit 'Tweed' care home last week. The children sang Christmas carols, shared Christmas cards and enjoyed talking to the elderly residents. There were tears of joy all round. We look forward to visiting again in the Easter term.
A lovely parent/carer event was held today in Year 3. Competitive juices were flowing as a Quiz was hosted by the Year 3 teachers and Mums and Dads did their very best! The 5 Ways to Wellbeing were covered, especially Give, Connect and Keep Learning!! The winning team is pictured above with their well deserved prize! Bright Sparks Nursery have been working on a "Reverse Advent". Each day children have put something in the box for the food bank. We spoke about how Christmas is for giving and that not everyone is as fortunate to many of us over Christmas. The Hawthorns Eastbourne came into school today to congratulate Annie who won their Christmas card competition! Annie was delighted to be rewarded with a £25 gift card for herself to buy some lovely books as well as £200 for her year group to fill their bookshelves! Annie's winning design was made into a real Christmas card that Hawthorns have used to send their residents and customers! Well done Annie, we are so proud of you!
Mr Field unveiled three Sports Personality awards in Funky Friday assembly this past week. Connor P-J is an ace Hockey player. James R is developing his Rugby skills brilliantly and as you can see, Talisha is an all round sporting superstar!!! Well done team, look at those smiles and medals, GO LANGNEY!!!
Well done to Mollie who entered the Langney Shopping Centre Christmas card competition and achieved second place! Mollie said she was very proud of herself and cannot wait to spend her voucher! Nest group, Owlets celebrated their hard work and incredible Christmas singing to their loved ones. Year 3 celebrated their amazing Ancient Egyptian topic with a fabulous Egyptian day. The children were engaged with a ‘hands on history’ project where they took part in fire lighting, dressing up as an Ancient Egyptian family or warrior (teachers included), had a battle to protect their land, held artefacts, completed an Egyptian quiz, watched a gross mummification, explored the Ancient world through a historical timeline and much, much more.
