A huge well done to Jack in Year 1 who has recently taken part in the miles for refugees challenge. Jack has run, walked, cycled and scootered 22 miles in September (which is the same as crossing the English Channel) in order to raise money for refugees through the British Red Cross. So far he has raised £260. We are so proud of Jack's understanding of the refugee situation and fully showing the school values of Mutual Respect and Appreciation!! Superb Jack and keep up the gr
Year 6 have spent the last two days experiencing life as evacuees during World War Two! We began by filling in our name tags - in case we got lost en route - then had a think about what we would have taken with us in our (extremely!) small suitcases. We found out that all evacuees had to take gas masks with them, so we had a go at making our own. We then explored precious artefacts from the war, including adult's and children's real gas masks, an Eastbourne soldier’s dog tags
We continue our "new normal" exciting times at LPA with another first........A live and exclusive virtual Funky Friday assembly!! The presenters were in the hall and the live broadcast went into every Week A classroom where the awards were delivered by class teachers. The new Music "Rock & Roll Star" award was a highlight and also Miss Post's Positive Post at the end! Well done to all award winners and all who took part! Week B classes next week!!
We had record numbers of families walking to school day. Efforts to cut car omissions and improve local air quality were apparent today. Redford Close and Chailey Close today were closed for traffic as part of the Walking Festival of Eastbourne. We continue to work with Sussex Transport about future developments on road safety. Well done everyone for walking, scooting and cycling in!!
As Eastbourne Walking Festival begins, Beat the Street has been launched!! Some of our pupils joined Councillor Tutt and Mr Bowles at the closest "Beat Box" to our school. It is on Etchingham Road and once you have beeped the box with your fob or card you have one hour to tap another box in Eastbourne! Sign up first and join Langney School! GO TEAM LANGNEY!!! A lovely weekend for a family walk or bike ride. Please remember to stay safe!
Our Music lessons have started this week! In our brand new awe inspiring Music classroom. Mr Avery has introduced to every class in the school how they will be learning Music this year. State of the art Musical equipment and instruments have been bought to ensure that we continue to be a centre of excellence in all disciplines and unearth children's hidden talents. There will be a new award in Funky Friday assemblies too!
Did you know that Gerry Lawson created the first home video game in 1976!? Anyone who has a Playstation, Nintendo Switch or XBox should know his name and send virtual thanks!! One of our new displays is celebrating technological innovation whilst recognising major contributions from black and minority ethnic developers and entrepreneurs. Year 6 children are researching soon and will be providing QR links with further facts on the new display next to the Ironman computing suit
We are thrilled to be welcoming our new cohort of children and families into Langney Primary Academy! The outside learning area looks so colourful and engaging and set up for many exciting learning and play opportunities!
Just look at our wonderful mural in the hall for this year!! All classes are a superhero and many representing diversity and equality. All our children have also been mini superheros as we have welcomed everyone back to Langney. It has been amazing seeing all of the happy faces and the engagement in our recovery learning that has a strong focus on wellbeing and connecting in the first few weeks!
