On behalf of the children, staff and governors at Langney Primary Academy, I would like to extend you a very warm welcome.
I am an incredibly proud Head of School and I truly believe that all aspects of learning at Langney are fully aspirational and magical for the children. Creating memorable learning is core to our principles and motivates us to research, develop and implement cutting edge education.
Our commitment to breadth and balance is second to none and is evident through captivating classroom environments, interactive displays, a wide ranging enrichment club programme and specialist subjects. Our expert computing teachers, Chromebooks for all Year 6 pupils and computing suite are readying children for their digital future.
“Excellence for All” permeates what we do at Langney as we move forward together. Healthy living is fully promoted to support physical and mental well-being for all children and adults.
Our specialist PE teachers, newly installed outdoor gym equipment and all-weather “Run the World” track encourages us to spend even more time exercising the body and mind.
I invite you all to visit our school and the pages of this website to learn about our vibrant curriculum for excellence, fruitful enrichment and aspirational learning.
Mr B Bowles
Head of School
Having been the Headteacher of Langney Primary since 2013, I am incredibly proud of the school’s many developments and achievements over the years. Whilst maintaining the school’s fun and vibrant atmosphere, solid foundations have been put in place to improve the standards of teaching and pupil outcomes. As a result, the school has a sustained culture of high expectations and aspirations for every pupil.
Langney is an exciting and inspiring place to be. Over the years our focus on innovation has resulted in making the school one that is unique and stands out from the rest. This includes our dynamic and caring staff; Curriculum for Excellence; investment in specialist teachers; focus on high quality Computing teaching and digital resources; unique school facilities; our extended wrap-around care service for working parents (7:30am to 6:00pm) and wide-ranging extra-curricular activities on offer for children to explore their talents and interests.
Due to a combination of the school’s externally recognised success and an extensive background in school improvement, I was invited by Swale Academies Trust to become the Executive Headteacher for its Eastbourne Primary Schools in September 2017. Langney Primary joined Swale Academies Trust in September 2018, and is now part of the Swale family alongside Parkland Infant School, Parkland Junior School and Shinewater Primary School. We also have forged school links with our Swale Academy Trust Eastbourne Secondary Schools – The Eastbourne Academy and Causeway School.
Swale Academies Trust is an Academy chain like no other. It has a strong educational background and excellent track record in consistently improving schools across London, Kent and East Sussex. Langney Primary Academy acts as a lead school within the Academy Trust and provides school to school support in a range of areas including Leadership, Mathematics, Computing, English, Curriculum Design, Special Educational Needs and Pupil Premium.
Equally, Langney receives appreciable support from the Academy Trust. In addition to improved standards since joining the Trust, we take part in educational research projects with our partner schools both within and beyond East Sussex to ensure the school remains at the forefront. Significant funding to improve our facilities has also been given which could not have been afforded as a previous maintained school. Staff and pupils work collaboratively across our Eastbourne Swale primaries to support and challenge each other. As a result, Langney Primary Academy continues to excel.
I am absolutely delighted to be the Executive Headteacher at Langney Primary Academy. It is a happy, friendly and welcoming school with a ‘family feel’ like no other. Visitors and professional colleagues often comment on the distinctive warm and positive ethos that pervades the school as soon as you enter.
We hope that you enjoy browsing the school’s website and it gives you an insight into all the wonderful things we do. This flagship school is one of Eastbourne's best kept secrets.
