Trip To Southampton Football Club
On Friday 29th April, fifteen year 5 and 6 children travelled to Southampton Football Club for the final installment of our Premier League Reading Stars Project. These 15 children have been involved in an after school club for 10 weeks which focuses on reading for pleasure, by earning Premier League Rewards. The project is supported by footballers who encourage children to read and during the project we have been fortunate enough to to have a visit from Crystal Palace Football Club and to be journalists for the day at Eastbourne Borough's recent victory over Chelmsford. This Friday saw us travel to Southampton where we were able to enjoy a stadium tour and creative writing sessions with authors Will Mabbit and Jamie Thomson. The group had a fantastic time creating evil characters and getting copies of books signed. Well done to everyone involved and a special thanks to Mr. Stevens for running this project and organising this very special trip.
