Uni of Sussex Trip!
During Term 4, Year 5 had the exciting opportunity of working on a programme with academics and undergraduates who are studying Law at the University of Sussex. They visited us twice in school to run 'School Tasking' sessions with us, where we learnt about interesting aspects of the law through fun and interactive tasks set in the style of the TV show 'Taskmaster'. We worked together in teams to use our skills and talents to complete tasks and win points.
On Tuesday 25th April, we were then invited to the University of Sussex campus to join the academics and undergraduates in the 'School Tasking Finale!' This was such an exciting day where the children got to see the amazing university campus and got to engage in more interactive activities whilst learning about the law. With the help of the UoS Law Ambassadors, each group built a model to represent a court case they had learnt about. The two winning teams then went head to head in a quiz, and team 'Masters' from Main Street won!
Throughout the programme, the children used and developed life skills, such as teamwork, presenting and creativity. The children asked lots of questions about university and there was a real buzz and excitement about higher education.
Thank you so much to the University of Sussex for providing us with this experience!
