Year 4 have been celebrating the coronation of King Charles III through exploring his life, achievements and his future as our monarch. We had lots of fun making collages, keepsake badges and lots of arts and crafts.
We explored King Charles III as an author and read his book 'The Old Man of Lochnagar,' and then made our own marble runs inspired by the story of the pipes and the old man.

The idea behind “The King’s Book” activity feels really creative because it encourages children to connect reading with imagination instead of treating books like just another school task. It reminded me of helping my younger cousin with reading exercises while I was also preparing for entrance exams myself, and balancing both became harder than I expected. I eventually used take my online hesi exam to reduce one major academic pressure so I could stay patient and focused during study time. It really made me appreciate how support can create better learning experiences for everyone involved.
I remember a quiet afternoon when my child showed me a small school blog, eyes shining with pride. In that moment, book publishing felt real, not distant. Their story mattered, simple words carrying big feelings, and I nearly cried reading it.
