Unveiling of Memorial Plaque for Local War Hero
On Saturday 2 July, six of our pupils represented the school during the official unveiling of the commemorative memorial plaque for Nelson Victor Carter VC.
Lee, William, Luke and Leo presented a poem, 'Nelson's Memorial Plaque,' which they had written with Philomena and Matthew who were given the very important task of laying one of five wreaths. All five poems written by the children were on display in the Tea Rooms with copies available for visitors to take away with them.
All those who attended said that the children were amazing - we could not be more proud!
There was quite a queue to see Nelson's Victoria Cross, guarded by two members of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, but it was well worth the wait!
At the close of the ceremony the Eastbourne Mayor thanked everyone for coming but was especially grateful that Langney Primary School was present as we represent the future generations of those whose task it will be to remember.
