League Runners Up 2018

For the second year in a row, our boys football team have come runners up to Ocklynge.

However, that does not reflect how very close we came to winning the final this year.

The Final was played at a neutral venue, (University of Brighton Astro Pitch) on Monday afternoon. Langney started the game very positively but nonetheless found themselves 2-0 down within the first 5 minutes against a very well organised team. Ocklynge are the current Eastbourne Champions, Sussex Champions , South East of England Champions and recently took part in the National Finals at Coventry City FC stadium. Team spirit and self belief has got Langney to the final and they were not prepared to give up without a contest. Oliver and then Ronnie scored to make the half time score 2-2

Unbelievably, Tayo then put Langney 3-2 up and a win was a real possibility until the final minute when Ocklynge equalised 3-3. The match went straight to the dreaded penalties, nerves were tangling (we know how England feel) but unfortunately Ocklynge got the better of us 2-4.

What an achievement to run Ocklynge in the Final so close.
