Private Aukett Remembered

This afternoon, a group of children visited the Town Hall to watch the unveiling of a new plaque to soldiers of Eastbourne whose names did not appear on the original memorial. One of those names was Joseph Frederick Aukett, whose great niece created the statue we have in our school.

We were also invited to the Mayor's Tea after the unveiling and were able to look at the display, Eastbourne Remembers.

It was a great opportunity for us to be part of Eastbourne's history and the children represented our school beautifully - showing great respect while asking insightful questions and demonstrating a keen interest in their surroundings as well as the people they came into contact.
