Albion Cup Qualifiers!!

There was glorious sunshine at Priory Lane today!

Our under 9 girls team made a fabulous start with a 2-1 win against Polegate, followed swiftly with a 2-0 victory against Seaford. The team gelled and were playing like professionals now and spirits were soaring when they recorded a whopping 6-0 win against All Saints.

Hands clasped together in an emotional show of solidarity the team and adults held our breaths and it was announced Langney was 2nd and will challenge Harbour for a place in the final. Harbour won the toss and we were playing into the wind. Many shots on goal from Langney were thwarted by Harbour's great keeper. 0-0 result - PENALTIES (groan). Again Langney girls lifted their heads and faced the challenge head on. Knees were knocking, nerves were jangling as the team supported each other as they all took their best shot. Molly, our keeper was magnificent and brave as she stepped up to save the goals and the day as we won 2 penalties to 1.Langney girls had reached the final. What thrill for all.

The final - Frant v LPA

A storming start from the first whistle as Langney showed their strength and determination. Frant struggled to keep us out of their penalty area but their great keeper saved many of our shots. We defended strongly too. An extremely fast half way free kick flew into our goal and we were 1-0 down. Heads stayed up, positivity flew from one player to the next and we challenged Frant right up until the final whistle. Frant took the game and tournament and LPA placed second.

The team were jubilant to have played so strongly. Mr Field, Mrs Thompson, Miss Poulter and Sian (Parent Helper) could not have been more proud. The team were a credit to Langney, the sportsmanship, positivity, strength and determination led one coach to come over and say "They are a great team, the strongest here."

We couldn't agree more. WELL DONE TEAM LANGNEY!
