Careers Variety for Year 5

Year 5 loved meeting some fascinating people and learning about different jobs during Career’s Day

2023. The children were treated to a visit from Danny Bloor, the manager of

Eastbourne Borough Football Club, and Sian Ansell, the commercial manager, who explained about

all of the possible career paths in football and what it was like managing a football club.

We then met Alex Howell, a BBC sports journalist, who caught the children’s imagination with stories about

interviewing the England football team at this year’s World Cup, as well as many other incredible

experiences.

Later in the morning, we met Lord Ralph Lucas who told us about his life in the House

of Lords and his work looking after the environment.

Finally, we finished our fantastic day with a visit

from an ex-Langney Pupil, Arpita Shah, who is now a world-famous photographer and she showed us

some of her amazing work. All of our visitors shared how they became successful in their professions

and what the children need to think about to make the next step towards their future.
