Year 1 Phonic Screening Information Event

This afternoon Year 1 parents were invited to a phonic session where we outlined why Year 1 is such an important year for the children's phonic development. Namely the phonic screening in June, which is a national check of the children's phonic development. We also looked at how phonics is taught at Langney and learnt a few phonics tricks along the way; finishing off with a fun quiz.

Phonics is a huge part of children's reading and writing development and it is not possible to teach parents all the different phases of phonics development in one session. We would therefore like to offer parents the opportunity to learn more about phonics next term, every Tuesday evening (starting at 5:15pm). The sessions will be led by the Year 1 teachers and it is a great opportunity for parents to learn how they can support their children with phonics learning at home.

Invitations will follow shortly. We hope to see you there!
