Year 5 Inspired by Sculptor

Remembrance week has truly been a week to remember for Year Five! We were fascinated to learn about Joseph Aukett and explored elements of his life through a short biography and a range of sources including his birth certificate and the 1911 Census. We were honoured to meet the sculptor Elisa Funnell, the great niece of Joseph Aukett, who has created a memorial to Joe. Her work inspired the children to create their own sculptures representing elements of the war and we are proud that these will be displayed in the trench alongside Elisa's memorial of Joe.
