Today our Art Scholars had an afternoon project with our Art Leader, Miss Allum. The theme was how Art links with our Mental Health and Wellbeing as part of our school motto; Active Body, Healthy Mind.
The children were fully engaged all afternoon in a series of Art activities. We began with exploring wellbeing and mindfulness through reading ‘The Dot’ by Peter H Reynolds, which is a story about a girl named Vashti who discovers her artistic talent. This then inspired us to create our own dots! We also explored Wassily Kandinsky and his use of circles in his Art.
Later we explored what Art means to us and who we are as Artists through a freedom sketching and painting session. Finally we showed our work and discussed the afternoon with one another and got to take home our very own sketchbook to continue the art!
