Meeting Owls Virtually!

How exciting for the Nest children to share a free live assembly with Chris and Mark at Knockhatch Hailsham this morning with their owls. Beginning with a quick tour of 'behind the scenes' where the owls are housed, the children enjoyed peeking into the enclosures and being introduced to the owls. Mark then took 'Optic' the owl out onto the field for a beautiful flying display. He happily answered questions, and we learnt that owl legs are approximately 25cm long (nearly the size of a big ruler), they can fly upwards to around 40m but mostly don't go higher than the tops of the trees and they also hunt at any time of the day, not just at night.

Such a lovely way for the children to enjoy the owls and the park until visits can go ahead again.
