Our Soldier Stones in Belgium

Last week a very kind member of the public contacted us and offered to take three of our returned stones, representing soldiers of the First World War, to related sites in Belgium. The children in Year 4 chose a stone to represent each of their classes.

The stones visited several places including the John McCrae memorial (he wrote the In Flanders Fields poem), and the Mouse Trap Farm (which is featured on the map currently on loan to us from the Royal Sussex Museum Trust).

The photo shown above was taken at an installation called Coming World Remember Me and commemorates the 600,000 soldiers who fell in Belgium.

We are very grateful to Mr Woollard for taking our stones on such a fantastic journey.
